Technology transforming FMCG manufacturing downtime

The world of maintenance in food and drink manufacturing is changing in a way that is seeing traditional techniques be replaced. We are now seeing planned maintenance techniques being gradually replaced by predictive maintenance, using condition- based monitoring of sensors on machinery.

However, it’s expected that preventative maintenance will shift towards root cause failure analysis, where real-time digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) will analyse huge amounts of data to identify the real causes of problems in equipment and production lines. This should enable faults to be designed out plus help identify further process improvements that ultimately impact the bottom line.

The recruitment of maintenance professionals is one of our specialist areas here at Consilium Recruit, particularly in view of the changing face of technology and new breed of skills being sought within the Food and Drink sector particularly.
