A Head of Business Development is sought by an established and innovative supplier of precision engineered components to the aerospace, defence and other specialist technology sectors.

 

Armed with an ambitious 5-year strategic plan coupled with major investment in the business, my client is embarking upon a significant new chapter in its growth and onward development.

 

Accordingly, this is a rare opportunity to not only augment the senior team but also help shape and influence significantly this already highly driven and agile business.

 

Based in the north-west, the role will be fully mobile and autonomous, enabling a remote working model with regular contact and full business integration.

 

 

Suitable for: Sales Manager, Sales Director, Business Development Director, Commercial Manager, Commercial Director, Business Development Manager, Sales & Commercial Manager, Head of Business Development.

 

Salary: £ 75,000 - £ 100,000 p.a. + excellent benefits

 

 

The Role

 

This is a high-profile position with lead responsibility for achieving sustained commercial success. Overall, you will coordinate the existing team and resources to ensure not only continued development of existing customers, but also the identification of new markets and sectors. Fully promoting the wide yet specialist range of engineering and production capability and services offered.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

Engagement and relationship building with existing & new customers

Identification of new business opportunities outside of existing customer base including emerging / high growth sectors

Management of negotiating strategies, working towards establishing supply contracts, including identifying and managing potential risks

Drive profitability by developing new customers and promoting the business via all channels including trade show and industry body involvement

Contribute to commercial sales strategies and pricing structures

Facilitate cross functional customer relationships that deliver results

Produce and analyse regular activity reports in line with sales targets and market intelligence

Liaise with main stakeholders including engineering and manufacturing teams to understand how to best satisfy customer requirements

 

 

The Person

 

With a proven track record of securing new business and identifying new markets within advanced manufacturing and engineering sectors, your experience will ideally cover a range of materials (from metallic through to composite), as well as manufacturing processes (fabrication, machining, and treatments).

 

Also, strongly customer focused and highly consultative in approach, you will be familiar with bid & tender processes, stakeholder management and project planning in the provision and delivery of turn-key solutions to customers.

 

Ultimately, results driven with an established network of industry contacts plus passion for customer excellence, you will already be an established commercial professional with a solid career history and track record of achieving results at a senior level. This coupled with excellent communication and organisational skills, plus the ultimate desire to play be a key part in delivering the strategic plan and more.
